Founded in 1996, Pilot Systems International began as a one man band. In the formative years, Mr. Berry provided expert witness services, technical guidance, and analysis to both Fortune 100 and entrepreneurial organizations.

In late 2002, several startup companies were looking to import cars from Asia to the United States.  Mr. Berry provided assistance as he worked to Homologate their vehicles for the U.S. market, i.e. engineering their powertrains and safety systems to meet U.S. regulatory standards.  Initially, the focus was on engineering powertrain systems to meet U.S. EPA and CARB requirements.  This quickly evolved into providing engineering services related to Safety Systems (FMVSS, IIHS etc.) and Diagnostics for both vehicle applications (OBDII) and Dealership Test Tools. In many cases, these projects included supporting the client with the development of business and engineering plans and actual engineering and testing of the vehicle to comply with appropriate emissions or safety related standards.

Since 2002, Pilot Systems International has not only been involved with Homologation Projects but has also drawn upon our knowledge of Powertrain Control Systems to deliver projects related to hydrogen gas vehicles, electronic throttle bodies, hybrid vehicles, and powertrain strategies for one of the largest vehicle OEMs.

In 2004, Mike Pryce joined Mr. Berry as a partner in Pilot Systems.

Over the past 5 years, our revenue has grown at about 50% per year.
